Petrol door won't lock

Fuel filler door fuse is fuse #8 (15A) in the rear compartment. Page 111 in the 2001 V70 owners manual. As you are looking at the REM, it's the 8th fuse down on the left side. On my V70, I don't have any fuses underneath it.

This is just to connect this to the previous discussion we had on the topic in this thread:

Basically, according to the wiring diagram, the filler flap locking motor is triggered by relay RMI21 which is connected to fuse F8. Fuse F8 is also for the rear door lock, so if your rear doors work, you should have power to RMI21 too.

To detach this from the question of whether there ought to be a switch or not: Have you tried triggering the lock using VIDA? I would expect that this is possible, somewhere related to the REM or possibly central locking (UEM). That would help a great deal in tracing the connection: Trigger the lock, check if the relay (RMI21) clicks, if it does and you get power behind the relay (test light), the fault is between the relay and the motor or in the motor ground. Obviously, the motor itself could be toast as well.

Once you have established that the electrics of the thing work, start worrying about how to trigger the lock in normal operation. Hope this helps!

Well Dr Dan... I have vida..I cleared some codes..(not related to this problem) if I knew how to use VIDA I guess I could get into the software. BUT I HATE COMPUTER CONTROLLED ANYTHING!!!! AHHHH!!!! I'm buying a horse and wagon. Way less expensive and far more dependable than a POS VOLVO!!!! AHHHHH!!!!

Volvo makes some fine horses, but the saddle tanks give trouble. Common around Philly.

Abscate?... you have horse sense. I like it! By the way...I was trolling thru the section of the "show us your VOLVO" section and saw a photo of you. I think it was you. Peace sign in front of some delapadated house from the 20's judging by the construction, maybe older. We have alot of those types here in the Ohio valley as well. Back on point...is there somewhere to go besides the Volvo Corp to teach me how to use VIDA 2014D?...I get mad but I refuse to quit...
