More pics. That's my other project in the back ground. You might be shocked at what that is.

Well this weekend did go as hoped. Changed all 5 injectors to rebuilt white ones. New ngk spark plugs. And tried to drive it. While it was running better it still has a rough idle. So Hoping a test drive might clean it out and idle better. I replaced some brake lines and bled the system. To find out the master cylinder is blown. So on to the next test until a master cylinder can get here. So the compression test. This bummed me out. 130, 0 , 0 , 132, 0
All while cold. So something big wrong. I filled all 5 cylinders with marvle mystery oil. Hopefully stuck valves or rings will free up. I'm shocked how well it runs on 2 cylinders.

Any advice on how long to let the Marvel mystery oil set in it and do it's thing? 24 hours a few days or a week?

So I let it soak 24 hours. And cranked it over. It shot the mystery oil all over the engine bay with the plugs out. So checked compression again. # 5 bumped up to 5lbs. #2 and 3 still no compression at all. Then try to start it and it smoked like crazy then made a pop noise and and died. And no won't start at all. Pulled the plugs and cleaned them and checked spark. All good there. Checked fuel pressure and pulse all good there. But back to not starting. Maybe mystery oil on the distributor cap. As the spark did seem weak at the plugs. I guess my next step is a scope to run in it and look at the valves. I hope they are just stuck open and not burnt. How far can a valve be open before the piston slaps it? I guess I'm asking are these interference motors?

I just looked it up and they are interference engines. I now hot they weren't stuck enough to get hit by the pistons while trying to start it the first time. I know the kid I bought from has been trying to start it a while.

You don’t have a lot of play. I think you have found why the compression is so low

My phone changed a lot of words that last time I wrote. With As much fluid that stayed on top of the pistons it has to be the valves. I'll pick up a scope and have a look this week.

Got a few more questions. If a head is needed will a turbo v70 or s70 work from a 99 model? Also on the v70 I found it has the roof luggage bars. I know they fit. But the trims running beside the windshield on both side aren't that good. Can I cut down s70 sedan trim that is good to fit with the luggage rails? Also will the hood liner on a v70 fit an 850?
Thanks everyone.

Replacement engines can be found in all T5s and Rs from 94 to 96.
Might be the easiest route to go.

no, a 99 or 2000 head will not work as far as I know due to vvt.
a 97 or 98 high pressure turbo (the 2.3 liter, not the 2.5 liter which was low pressure turbo) should fit.
