99 V70. Handbrake works in forwards motion only. Topic is solved

Semi-related question. I just replaced my parking brake shoes and springs and now the car as a very loud squeal but only in reverse.any thought or theories? I might try driving them a little bit with the brake on.

For some more context my left side cable was a little seized and I worked it with penetrating fluid, but the rotor was still a little snug to get on with the handbrake adjuster screw fully unscrewed
