Mike,

You are working your way down the list

High Mileage Maintenance items for 3.2
1. Serpentine belt, tensioner, idler -

The list continues

https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic32504.html

I have done most of the items on the list for both of my 3.2's and both vehicles are very reliable.

Good Luck

Paul

No problem, apology not necessary! You. Da. Mon.
Advice appreciated and headed. So, that pulley that "powers" the belt system - I can't budge it in either direction. So the whole serpentine belt, when installed ;), should be able to rotate freely in one direction and not the other? That's interesting, I can't imagine that happening given the frozen feeling of that pulley under the A/C compressor that runs through to the alternator. Does this mean a frozen clutch pulley?

Totally, glad to do prev maint when I can. Wish I did this job during the summer but since the A/C and belt was brand new figured the dealer also changed out the pulleys. I have another 2012 with the turbo 3.0 - assume same deal?

Yes, my clutch pulley failed by freezing in a locked position

You are 100% correct in what you wrote above.

Thanks

Ok, correction. I CAN spin that pulley below the A/C compressor (CCW as viewed from driver's fender) when using the belt thrown around it. Can't spin it CW. I think my confusion was that this isn't really called an alternator pulley, it's the crankshaft pulley? https://parts.volvocars.ca/p/Volvo_2007 ... 16803.html

Mike,

The crankshaft drives a gear in the READ and the pulley is connected to that gear

The naming for the clutched pulley is confusing.

Based on your comments I wouldn't replace the clutched pulley, it seem to still be functional.

I just check mine by moving the belt once every six months when I change the oil (It moves just as you described)

Good Luck

Just zoomed in on my own pic, guess I didn’t notice this before thought it was a seam...pretty sure it’s a crack...
