Couldn’t agree with VTL more. Exactly what my 04 V70 AWD looked like after life (well, at least 62k worth) with ”synthetic” Castrol. 7,500 mile OCI’s only worsen an already bad thing. Wonder how much they paid to have their name on the filler cap. Gotta love the stalagmite crustacean in the oil pickup tube opening.

Edit: Also, I've never understood the sagging headliners in any vehicle. Seems like it's usually an old Buick type thing with greasy windows & the drivers of these vehicles frequently have a cigarette in their hand. No idea if there's a connection between the two, of course.

+1 with VTL also. Before dropping the oil sump I put in BG109 myself. Oil came out black using the BG109 cleanser but my sump had much less crud as the one VTL posted. From here on I fill with 3 quarts Redline and 2 quarts Mobil1 every 5k miles. Fifty miles before the drain I put in 1/2 pint off seafoam.

I would say the seller pretty much acknowledges $24.5k is high but it appears he’s just looking to ride the wave... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2005-volvo-v70-r-13/

Uh, driven hard? A Volvo clutchat 72k?

It’s your money to spend, but my laughs at watching you spend it .....

They all fail at the slave cylinder. Weak design, and the worse is the slave is internal and leaks over the clutch and the dual mass pressure plate - all needs replaced with the engine out. If the car is seeing lots of city traffic the slave on these manual transmissions can start failing as soon as 50K miles and it seems the replacement slave doesn't last much longer than the original one. Here's a topic from an European forum where most cars are manual

Why does anyone advertise a car for sale in a closed Facebook group?

Glad I found this topic, 'cause I've been soerly tempted by this '04 V70R that popped up on Craigslist recently, posted at a much more reasonable $6500:

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/ ... 17127.html

I figured that it needed a timing belt sevice at the least, plus new 4C rear shocks which the owner is disingenuously claiming may just need a new "sensor". I figured I could handle those repairs fairly easily.

But the leaking slave cylinder warning is just reinforcement to my inner adult saying "you don't need that headache of a toy".

Gracias.

I literally smell interior stench of a neglected Volvo looking at these photos...
