Dead Instrument Cluster, HVAC and Power Seats

I have a similar (but different) problem. 2004 XC70 cluster is dead except for check engine light. Seats work, climate controls work, seat adjustments work but nothing on the cluster. Replaced with a junk yard unit......same thing. Any ideas? TIA.
