Rear seats, but you have to take a whole bunch of interior stuff out to get to the seat bases as I remember.

At least you won't see any amateur welds and cut your fingers with sharp edges like you do with Toyota seats =)

Well this is strange.......the pump seems to have come back to life on its own! I was planning on putting the Volvo pump in it today but the Dorman started working again about 4 days ago and appears to have fixed itself. I don't really feel like lying on my back in the garage today so I think I'll just leave it until it quits again and keep the Volvo pump on the shelf. I don't quite know whether to be happy or upset at this recent development, ?

You probably need to look at what's inside your DEM. It often lets water in.

Strangely enough, by the time my $500 CDN Volvo pump showed up the Dorman was on day 4 of working after not working 1 or 2 days. That was at least 4 weeks ago and it's still running strong! I decided to keep the Volvo as a spare being that the Dorman has a 1 year warranty, it's been in since August. My only guess is that there was a intermittent poor connection or maybe a tiny particle of contaminant that stuck between the slip ring and brushes. It's a low amperage pump and appears to be relatively well made, not much to go wrong with a magnet pump so I'll just leave it in till it fails hard. I really don't have an explanation as to why it quit temporarily. The roads here are icy every day so I can confirm that everything is working well.

I have a 2006 BMW 3.0i with xDrive. The BMW xDrive AWD system is much better than Volvo.

My 2005 XC90 2.5T AWD stripped the sleeve, so knowing that the Volvo early-design AWD has so many issues (stripped sleeve, angle gear leaking, the rear electronic DEM etc. etc.), I decided to abandon the idea of fixing the sleeve, installed 4 winter tires and drive the XC90 as FWD + winter tires.

If you must fix the AWD, then by all means have fun fixing it.
If you can live w/o the AWD system, then my suggestion is to drive it as a FWD.
The time you spent fixing this bad engineered AWD system is not even worth it.
