It seems they're all the same in that regard! I seldom use the dual zone feature but tried it today after reading these posts, mine works perfectly. Obviously the two middle dash vents is where the split is. I also popped the hood at -25 today......I didn't know that was a bad idea but it didn't break the cable end. Maybe I'll grab a spare at the auto wreckers next time.
Probably my favourite thing about my '03 XC is how fast it does warm up in the winter, usually I'm hardly out of the neighbourhood before it's blowing heat, similarly the A/C seems to blow cold almost immediately on hot days.
04 xc70, does the dual climate just suck or is it broken?

The last three Volvos we’ve owned, 2003, 2005, and 2018 have all had dual climate control. On all three cars if either person turns the temp to full red then it takes total command of the system and causes BOTH sides to blow max heat. If either person sets the knob to one click BELOW max heat then the other person has control of their own side and can set the temp as desired.

I wonder if that’s covered in something like a book they put together of interesting facts on the $50,000 vehicle someone once bought?

Usually that someone removed the book from the $50K vehicle and lost it!
My dual controls in '01 V70 work OK most of the time. Sometimes it seems confused and blows cold air when I want hot and hot when I want cold. First restart after using the defrost will revert to defrost mode with AC on and vents directed to windshield only.

Juts tested mine, but I put it in manual mode - just press any of the three buttons to set the airflow manually (or any combination of 2)
I put driver's side to full cold, pass side to full heat: both were blowing the correct air temperature
Then reversed, driver's side full hot, pass full cold: again, working as expected

Or worse , when she would feel too warm in winter time, she would turn the knob to full coldBlacklab467 wrote: ↑12 Feb 2021, 15:47 All wives are like that! I've tried teach the concept of the thermostat unsuccessfully. Mine likes to get into a minus 20 car and start it up and turn the heat and fan full blast expecting heat to come out immediately.
