What was the damage in that? I have a couple thst can use replacement next time my horse comes in850oldschool wrote: ↑08 Oct 2021, 21:38 This is really exciting. Volvo Parts Webstore can get a lot of stuff, but some parts, like the 850 wagon roof trim they'll only do on will call. I had to wait about 6 weeks, but my brand new leather upholstered lid for the console storage compartment arrived last week.

Robert's buddy at Swedish Car Parts sells a cover that is well stitched - but doesn't fit very well. Too squared off at the back. I think I paid ca. $40 many months ago.abscate wrote: ↑09 Oct 2021, 04:07What was the damage in that? Wow, GCP.se is amazing! They have parts for every Volvo from P80 and older. Even more impressive, they have a 1000 page parts catalog PDF for the P80! Now I don't have to try and archive VolvoPartsWebStore.
Problem is, their S/V/C70 catalog lists only models from "1996 - 1998" having a published date of Feb 1998. So they don't have the transition models 1999-2000.
Does anyone know of a similar official complete parts catalog PDF for 1999-2000 S/V/C70? I'd much rather have that than a hand made archive of VPWS. Or are the diagrams, part numbers, and notes (bolt sizes, etc) all in ViDA?

If you can find a part number elsewhere they do have parts listed but not on the drawings. Suggest e-mailing them and ask them why! I'll do the same.

I just had success ordering a backordered part from IPD which took a month to arrive. The trick was that I added a note on my order saying "I know this is backordered and I'll wait up to 30 days for it, but email me if it's discontinued forever." I also called them before ordering to ask if they could get it and they assured me it would come in eventually. I called them after two weeks after the order and they gave me an updated arrival time.
FCP isn't good about getting backordered parts because it seems they don't want to hold up your order. They had the part I wanted listed as "available in 2 days" so I ordered from them. In a few days, they refunded me for the item saying it wasn't available and marked it as "backordered, no ETA" on their site. In a few days, they listed it as "available in 2 days" again, but when I asked them, they said they couldn't get it.
I tried ordering it from Tasca but they said it was discontinued and refunded me.
I tried usparts.volvocars.com for the part but my local dealership ordering system shows it as "backordered, no ETA." Calling the dealership revealed the same thing. Interestingly, the next closest dealership showed it available for order, but they're too far away.
All this for a wagon rear center brake hose. I trusted it was a part they could easily make more of, so assumed the order would be filled if I just waited. IPD is the place to go for similar "commodity" backordered parts.

One hiccup in this. My local dealer in Albany doesn’t participate in the SimplePart retail, so it doesn’t look like I can pickup there. Nearest dealer is in Chesire MA , one hour away. As luck would have it, I drive by on way to visit Caitlin, Shagg, and Nova the dog.FireFox31 wrote: ↑20 Sep 2021, 12:47 I just found that we can order obscure parts from usparts.volvocars.com for pickup at our local dealership. This gets you stuff which FCP, IPD, and eEuroparts don't have, without paying high shipping to VPWS or Tasca, and without calling your dealership parts counter and getting possibly incorrect pricing.
Volvo uses SimplePart, the same layout and diagrams that I love at VolvoPartsWebStore. Oddly, they don't filter out turbo vs non-turbo as well as VPWS. These diagrams are much better than the RevolutionParts ones at Tasca.
The real trick is pickup at the local dealership, avoiding the VPWS and Tasca high shipping rates. When you find a part, choose "local pickup" and choose a dealership. You'll be redirected to an online parts site at your local dealership which looks identical to the Volvo site. Complete the order, choosing local pickup, and hopefully the dealership will call you when it's ready.
I tested this out on a $7 part. FCP didn't have it, VPWS and Tasca wanted $10 shipping, and the dealership parts desk said it was backordered with no ETA and wanted $14. Ordering it from Volvo gave me a 10% discount with no shipping! I'll let you know if it arrives and how it works out.
When I go to the Bedard dealer site, I don’t get the simple parts engine, just the fuzzy dice parts choice.
I guess they want to charge dealer markup on their parts and not be market competive. I’ll just stick with Volvo parts Lisle, I guess.
Upshot - check your dealer for participation before ordering.

Try asking the Chesire dealer if they will ship to you at a reasonable cost. That would save the cost of two hours drive. But then, in the Volvo it is a pleasant drive to family.abscate wrote: ↑03 Nov 2021, 04:29One hiccup in this. I always start my parts search at usparts.volvocars.com, find the part, then choose local pickup. This reveals which dealerships are willing to get the part. Even if a dealership participates in this system, they may not have the part for online ordering. My dealership got me the coolant valve, but they couldn't get me a brake hose while the next closest dealership could. That hose was "back ordered, no release date" on other sites which may have contributed to the problem.
usparts.volvocars.com consistently offers 10% off retail for parts available with dealership pickup. That's a solid deal for obscure stuff which I may not need the FCP warranty, expensive parts (where the 10% really adds up), and large parts to avoid shipping.

Hmmm, Wappingers Falls (1 hour South but still on a driving route) is playing, but I dont see a local pickup option.
Can you tell me where that shows up?
Update - none of the dealers in East NY, West CT or Western MA show local pickup.
