This is an excerpt from the manual:

The way I read it is that if the relay is not working properly then the load on the power transistor is not being reduced. This would give a fault code of 2-3-3 (Blower motor has excessive current draw).

The only relay for the 780 without a specific location is the blower relay.
However, the 740/760 use the same system and the blower relay for them is "under the right side of the dash behind the glove box".

There should be two relays there. The other is the A/C delay relay.

We'll get there if we persevere!

removed the glove box there are no relays, there i found a box with 2 plugs it is screwed to the blower box. i removed it, it is a circuit board of some type, i called volvo with the part # they told me it was part of the heater control for a 940. cleaned it all up then going to put it back and found heater core fins plugged solid, cleaned fins put everything back together and we will try again. thinking maybe heater core temp sensor getting wrong reading, i will let you know but as for the relays i dont know where they are. thank you for your help we will figure it out eventually i guess.

My friendly Volvo tech has confirmed that the relays for the 740/760 are behind the glove box and assumed they were for the 780. However, he has never worked on a 780. He is now wondering if Volvo, in their wisdom, put the relays in a different location on US models. I don't think so because the literature I am working from is for the US market.

The only other location we can find is:

I thought that might be the case. The 9 series followed on from the 7 series and a lot of the components are the same.

Unfortunately, I have no information on testing that unit.

We have tried again to get a precise location for the relay but every reference we find for the 740, 760, 780 and 940, all of which have the same A/C system, says it is located "under the right side of the dash behind the glove box". That is definitely for US models.
