Wonderful news

I wonder how I will have to handle this, because I installed a steering wheel from an 07' V70R into my 05' base V70.

Are you in Germany? How are recalls handled where you live? You might be outta luck...but then again, if the V70R VIN is covered by the same recall, you might be able to get them to do it and mark yours as completed...

Really interested to know how this goes for you, if for nothing more than curiosity.

Those who don’t live in Potato states need not be afraid ,
My guess is that the recall targets cars that are registered in hot/humid states and not the cooler/dryer states. If that is the case then many of us wouldn’t even get the notice. My car is registered in Georgia so I’ll be watching the mailbox.

I hope this doesn’t end up like the seat belt anchorage recall we received on our 2018 S60. Been trying for over a year to get that one addressed but the dealers don’t ever have the parts available. Hmmmmm….

Hey Jonboy, I am a German living in Connecticut. Been here for a long time.

I guess when the time comes I will talk to our local dealer. Hopefully I don't have to install the original steering wheel again.

It’s a full , all units built recall.

No territory delimiters like Takata

I’m hard left on the risk aversion scale but in my climate I won’t be rushing out to get this done

Incidentally , the bags in question are made by ZF, not Takata

Falling Bosch power nut drivers are much more dangerous

The issue is degradation of the explosive charge from high heat and humidity climates.

Those who don’t live in Potato states need not be afraid ,
lessee....Brooklyn NY - Providence - Missoula MT, where it was parked for days on end at trailheads and hospital parking lots.

But later I'm seeing it's an all units recall?

This is interesting. I just used the Volvo Recall Webpage shared by xHeart, and my 2001 V70 T5 only lists the outstanding fuel pump recall that I have yet to have done. Does anyone know if the Volvo recall webpage is up to date and includes the airbag recall?

My car has definitely been in a hot and humid climate for the last 20 years...coastal South Carolina it's entire life.

It's also interesting that my driver's side passenger door has an airbag sticker that says the airbags should have been serviced or replaced by April 2011, 10 years after I purchased the car new. I'm surprised with this recall.

Short answer is no, apparently not up to date. E.g. it's not yet showing for my 07 XC70 either.

Longer, more speculative answer is: Take a look at the first post in this thread which includes pretty complete info including the recall webpage link. I wouldn't expect the recall page to show for a V70 airbag for at least another month or maybe not before December 15.
