You can google “ thermal expansion coefficient ATF” and bring back a few rabbits from the hole you vanish into, for dinner.

It’s something like 0.001 per C , which doesn’t sound like a lot but for 50C and 10mliters of ATF it will be order of 500ml expansion

Let me be sure I understand the math:
10L expansion for +50℃ rise at expansion rate of .001/liter = .5L
Correct?

If it was overfilled cold it will be well overfilled HOT

Currently the OAT is -12℃; the high today is forecast to be 45℉ (∼7℃). That's a difference of let's just round it to 20º. Sssooo 10L @ +20º rise @ .001/L = .2L

The difference from today to a hot summer afternoon at 33℃; add another 26℃ @ .001 = .25L

Which I'm going to assume is why the tolerance is .5L

If I look at the stick, the high mark for Cold is a little below the low mark for Hot (if memory serves).
