I cleaned a laptop (Lenovo AMD single core 1.0 GHz, year 2012) and installed a new fresh W7 Professional. I then worked several hours until I realised that it wasn’t possible to get ie9 any longer. Not even ie10. So I finally downloaded ie11.

Use the VIDA 2014D RU EN RePack, you can find the link in this thread. 2014D RU EN RePack runs better then the other VIDA packages. With the RePack you can use, IE11 directly in windows 10.

The Chrome conversion will let you use IE11 in Windows 7 indirectly. The Chrome extension "IE Tab" makes use of the IE11 rendering engine and and gives access to ActiveX but does not use the components of IE11 that Vida has problems with. In short the Chrome conversion by passes the problems in Windows 7.

The patch file on this forum addresses the licensing issue and makes Vida run with admin or 1 as the user however it's had a file modified to allow running after 2017 31st December.

Admin,1,2,3,4 for login. The only difference between the logins is the Partner Group it launches into.

Quite normal for Dice not to appear in Device Manager if it's not plugged into the OBD port on the car as the Dice is not properly powered with 12V supply

Yep, disconnected from a car, you need to plug in a 12-14V power supply to the 12V port on the top of the DiCE unit. I use a laptop power supply from my electronics resource bin.

Is DiCE ampere sensitive? I doesn't light up with 12V 2000mA.

We are dealing with cloned DiCE units from multiple manufacturers, there bound to be differences in power requirements. Any electronics equipment will have issues if its individual power requirements are not satisfied.

I cannot speak for the power requirements of the DiCE unit you have but, I can say my DiCE unit does fine on a 12V/3A laptop power supply.

A DiCE unit current requirements cannot be more then 4A @12V (48W) because the specifications for OBDII Type "A" calls for 12V/4A (48W).

If a DiCE required more the 12V/4A (48W) specification for OBDII Type "A", the manufacturer could not be sure the OBDII port would power the DiCE.

Hey RickHaleParker, On the windows 10 repack Vida won't turn green again. Worked fine ~30 days ago. Java never loads - it doesn't show up in task man, port 80 unused. Vida monitor loads but I noticed it sits with ~20% cpu use. Set core affinity to only run on one core, monitor pegs that virtual core to 100% and just sits there. Any ideas what I might try/look at?

Does it behave like it does when first installed ... sits there waiting for approval of the firewall exception?
Which can take a long time to pop up.

I tried turning off antivirus and the firewall, no difference. I'm looking at update history. There's a MS cumulative that was applied 2 weeks ago, and an intel microcode update the week before. The details on the microcode update mention something about predictive branching behavior in java and other programs to patch a vulnerability. My gut's telling me this is where the problems may be: it's a java setup/parameter that's incompatible with the new CPU microcode. It's an old version of java, running standalone, we're dealing with. I'm probably not the one that will figure out how to fix/work around it.

The microcode update applies to Intel core CPUs Sandy Bridge and newer. Older CPUs wouldn't be affected.

Prior microsoft updates go back to Sept 12 and before, I know VIDA was working somewhere around Oct 3.

I considered that. The Delorian won't go back quite far enough. It has has one of those newer Mr fusion drives - super fast but smaller. Space allotted for system restore data is limited.

I may forgo trying to have vida on the newer laptop - the russian repack worked for awhile but it was probably just a matter of time until something came down that broke it again on the newer OS. VMs can also get touchy about host OS changes and updates. A dedicated offline computer for VIDA might be the only thing you can count on working when you really need it someday-eventually.

You don't need a dedicated computer to do that, you could do it with a dedicated hard drive. Just swap the hard drives when you need VIDA.

On my portable workstation, I took the optical drive out and replaced it with a second hard drive bay. The second bay is used to run alternative operating systems.

As far as we know this problem is something on your system. Have you tried reinstalling VIDA? The installers may correct something that not right in a configuration.
