Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Replaced some broken bulbs with leds. They are omnidirectional so I am a bit mystified why they aren't as bright in the corners. Maybe not as tall as the original bulbs.

I replaced bulbs on several P80 dashboards buttons, ECC/MCC units, radios and speedometer clusters.
What I have found is if you do not replace all of the bulbs in a unit you will get color/brightness variation.
Even the color of the bulb base used in radios can make a difference. The small bulbs come with white, black, grey and blue bases depending on the supplier. That base color can make a difference. Black makes the bulb dimmer, white brighter.
So if you only replace a few of the bulbs then that could be part of the reason. Also bulbs vary in brightness and quality. I buy the small LED bulbs and re-use the bases. Simple enough in most cases and a whole lot cheaper.

In my MCC unit there are only two bulbs and I replaced both of them. I initially tried to replace just the bulbs but they did not want to come apart. These were pretty cheap, got 10x green and 10x white from aliexpress. I would like to replace all the lights with green ones in the dash eventually.

Do either of you mind sharing what you did with the bulbs? Did you get the right voltage LED and fit them into the neowedge base or find a reasonable price on replacement bulbs?
I have multiple switch lights out, and also the radio screen and have been feeling this would be a nice QOL little fix to make me feel good. And any good way to remove the dash switches without taking the kick panel down or breaking the fragile clips? My dash brightness clips are broken right now.

Bought these, base included, had to tweak the contacts for a good fit but that was a few seconds work with a pair of small pliers:

I did find the bulbs for both MCC and ECC at FCP!!
You can definitely buy in bulk cheaper
On my MCC replacement I found pushed the faceplate in firmly the LEDs lost contact. Solution , ease it out 1mm until they return. I think I wrote it up in Evitas maintenance record , link below

i booked the old girl my 1994 850se in for a new wheelarch to be fitted so removing the only remaining rust area on the car i have done all the rest myself but the wheelarch is beyond my tooling at home so this will be the first thing in her restoration i have paid a garage to do,luckily as i used to work there i have a good discount the only drawback is due to the local council restrictions the garage because it has houses either side is not allowed to do welding indoors nor spray painting so i will have to paint it and only with aerosol paints which i hate but even poor paint is better than no paint and a rust hole, thankfully it has not got as far as the rear seatbelt mounts and under the sill covers is good condition still and i have drilled several drain holes in the plastic covers as that is what causes rust is water trapped between the cover and the sill with no way out, still love this old girl beit a base model its still the best car i have owned, cheers

A deal looking too good to be true just popped up on marketplace in my area. '96 850R sedan. Red with a beige interior. There are already red flags but it's too tempting not to look at. Mold on the interior could be a bad sunroof seal but that combined with rusty valve cover bolts and valve cover corrosion make me think the car might have been flooded and the info not disclosed.
Poster also isn't giving an address or schedule right away so I am on guard.

Multiple issues right now, they just seemed to heap up.
-Alarm went off, I didn't remember to reset it so I pulled fuse 6, I reset the alarm and had to reprogram the remote this weekend.
-Engine block heater now makes the GFCI breaker release, went away when temps went over freezing and came back when they dipped below.
-This morning no start condition, cranks the engine but nothing happening. Pulled fuses 6 and 8 to rule out the alarm but no luck. Currently suspecting the fuel pump relay or injector relay.
