Greetings. Thanks. I've 8 hours of working time to get this right. If exhaust is 3 notches off , will removing belt and align cam mark to cover mark by turning VVT sprocket set the timing in order ?

Rewatch the video of the engine on workshop floor. It more or less shows how to put the VVT sprocket back on timing if it's off. This DOESN'T INVOLVE DISASSEMBLY OF THE SPROCKET/CVVT HUB.

My way is remove belt from exhaust sprocket, turn exhaust sprocket anti clockwise until resistance is felt then a further 5-10 degrees. After that turn exhaust sprocket clockwise until resistance is felt then bring it to the mark.

Rereading this thread: Have you realised there is a 6mm allen key adjustment for tension of the belt?

Greetings. Rewatched suggested videos . Reset exhaust and intake in rear. Set exhaust mark by turning sprocket clockwise to end point. Dead on match to cover mark. Intake on mark. Installed belt. Adjusted tensioner with indicator at 12 o'clock.
My problem is indicator moves to " low " cold setting after rotating belt. Is tensioner too loose or tight ? Do I need to reset timing marks ( crank, intake, exhaust cams ) every time tensioner is adjusted ?
This timing situation is the only hold up from starting up and regaining my garage to park my truck.

In my last post I asked if you're using the 6mm allen key hole as a means of changing the temperature settting (and therefore the tension) of the belt. A quick flick of the allen key hole will see the setting change dramatically. Are you using this to adjust?

Greetings. Yes , I'm using the 6mm allen key during temp setting. I was under the impression that all of the settings were a one step process. O :D unce indicator is set, tensioner tightened, rotate belt, the indicator should stay in 12 o'clock position. If it can be set after install and rotation, then I'm home free.
If I added a few frustration gray hairs to you , I apologize.

Another thing I wonder about. When I set all timing marks and rotate clockwise to marks , the crank mark shows 1/2 notch clockwise off. Crank pointer points directly to firewall notch on crank peak , not between the two , in the valley. Am I getting this due to minor belt slack, misaligned crank mark to pointer or is this acceptable ?

Greetings. It's been a long time and costly , but I'm back rolling. Runs great. Had to replace the weak fuel pump. Tagged and inspected , and a few days later got a miss and rough idle. Code 301. Replaced coil pack on #1 plug . Problem solved. Now on to the questionable brakes.

Wow...what a long, strange trip/experience that was. Congrats for hanging in there and pulling off a BIG job! A frozen WP that forces the TB off and causes piston/valve collision is every owners nightmare. Never experienced that myself....

Not sure where in Tx you are (I'm outside of Austin), however myswedishparts is a Volvo dealer up in the DFW area that sells many parts at a steep discount. I bought an OEM TB kit from them for $123. Also bought all OEM cooling hoses for a very reasonable price. And regular UPS gnd = overnight when in state.

I look fwd to PNP excursions around Austin when I locate some candidate cars. Which did you visit?

Re: brakes. Just replaced pads on all four corners. Bosch up front & Mintex in rear. Haven't had to clean the front wheels since! Really enjoying that....

Greetings. thanks for the support. I'm in Dallas. I haven't been on my regular PNP search lately due to heavy rains. Most of PNP in this area are located near Trinity River or feeders. Flood plain area with flooding. Not trying to deal with "Cottonmouths" looking for a dry spot. Just installed rotors from NAPA and pads. Second Saturday of every month before 9 am they discount purchases 30 percent. 20 percent after 9am.
Painted calipers red just for fun. Looks pretty good ,if I say so myself. LOL. Adds a little flare. Painted rotor hub black to" float "Perfo from rotor. Car is running great , other than maybe replacing top engine mount / rear firewall mount. Clunk on Park to Drive. Might need new tires due to getting out of round from sitting so long. Thankfully current tires were not very expensive.
Oh Yeah !!! A/C is still blowing Cold. !!! Texas Summers Ain't No Joke !!!! More to come. Peace.
