What a great resource! Thank you, Mike!
I have written out the torquing sequence from the inside out from one of rspl's videos. Now getting ready to secure the cam gear pulleys to something stable so the timing will be almost spot on when I install the cam shafts and cam shaft cover. Then I need to attach the coolant hose and gasket to rear of motor. Still need to weld a holder to the exhaust manifold to attach the heat shield. When I removed the bolts to the upper part of the heat shield, the small/short pieces of metal that extend like nodes or pods that the bolts are screwed into broke off the exhaust manifold. The bolts were very rusted. Will attach pics as I move along!

The angle of the cam shafts can just be rotated later with no issue at all, as long as the crank is always kept on the mark. Just a thought, gives you one less thing to think about as you draw down the cover.

I can get you the spec on that coolant housing bolt later tonight if you don't have it by then.

Thanks Erik!
The bolts I have that fit (thickness/width-wise) are one and 3/16s" long (I don't have a metric ruler handy). It might be slightly too long even with the gasket, which might result in the loss of coolant. Given that the connection is in an awkward spot and barely visible, I'd have to use my little mirror to see if the bolt head is snug against the hose flange, and the flange against the cylinder head!
Appreciate your checking on this for me! :)

So I have a 98 engine sitting on my garage floor, I pulled the top bolt and it is M7 x 1.0 (so 10 mm wrench) and 25mm of thread or almost exactly 1 inch. Sounds like the ones you have may be too long, like you wrote about.

Those two water pipe bolts are my absolute least favorite part of the head install, you can't see anything and you can't easily reach back there either.

Thank you Erik!
I am glad I did not use those bolts, I would have run into some trouble come ignition start up time!
I appreciate the effort and time checking out the correct length of the bolt for the rear coolant hose. Now to find the right length bolt :) Thanks again!!

I am good. Thanks for the offer, though!

On the bolt you lost, have you checked underneath the thermostat housing? I had a bolt fall under there the last time I changed out the breather and had to install a new intake manifold gasket. Couldn't find forever until I got a telescoping magnet and fished it out. Just a thought.

I'll check under there. I'm so mean, angry stiff from the turbo valve fight this week I'm not sure I can bend under the hood this weekend,,.
