What is the correct later arm that solves this problem?
Will a 1998 S70 or V70 arm fit and work well? Is the year range 1998 to 2000
for the newer arm?
Ive had excellent success with grinding down the nubs inside the arm. My blades make full contact throughout each cycle. It doesn't take much.

Unfortunately there is still no panacea for this problem. There seem to be several variables in play, so that what works for one may not work for others. That thread can get you going on fixing your car: grinding the nubs, bending the arm, and replacing it with new are the most common approaches. Eventually most people get it working well.

I'm also in the grinding camp, it worked on my car.

We changed the Voltage Regulator/brush assembly with a Transpro brand part from
ebay about a month ago. He uses the car daily and it has been working fine even
through some single digit temps. Then, yesterday, he drove home from work fine
got up and it would not crank no power. AAA came and the car started with a jump
and they said the battery and alternator test fine.

Any tips on this, the battery is about 1.5 years old.

I'm wondering if a door was just ajar keeping the dome light on.
Any other intermittent things to look for?

Measured the draw with an ammeter and got .05 A on connection then dropped
to .019 after a short bit of time, or 19 mA. Seems low enough to me.
Alternator is putting out 14.0 V.
We took back the 5 yr Walmart battery and got a new one for free.

That’s a very low drain.

New battery fixed it, seems the deep drain due to worn out alternator brushes
probably killed it. Hopefully with new brushes and battery all should be fine.

The 850 is still going strong - thanks everyone!

My son is intersted in a 2007 XC-70 AWD 2.5T, is there a long list of problem
areas with this car also? This is for their 2nd car not to replace the 850.
