This is why I went with Kobalt instead of Craftsman when buying my most recent tool set. I have faith that there will be a Lowe's near me for the foreseeable future. Sears generally is a corporate basketcase and the one near me is a disaster.

I've put some attention into the rock chips in the front end of my car. Sanded the rust out, applied a thin coat of primer, a thin coat of white, sanded with 2500 grit, and buffed with Meguiar's M105. I have no idea what I'm doing, so I applied too much primer; when I sand the repairs flat with the surrounding paint, I wear through the white paint and expose gray primer, which sits at the same height as the factory clear coat. You can see that in the dark spots around the grille (though one or two of those are bug splatters).

While I had the grille out, I sanded it with 400 grit to smooth it out and take out the reflectivity. I was going for a satin silver look, but I didn't really get a uniform finish around the rim. I'll try a coarser grit later, but for now I'm letting the touch-up paint harden and taking care of a few things on my Mercedes.

Looks pretty good! I like the finish on the grille. That might be something for me to try eventually. I just don't want to potentially ruin my egg crate haha.

Fun Weekend:
Swapped out some front and rear engine mounts on my brother's V70.

- Had to loosen the fan shroud to do the job... (This doesn't have to be done on the Manual Transmission P80s!) Mounts weren't oozing yet, but compressed by over a cm! Took me 6 hours the first time around. This time around took me about 4. I wish I'd known to loosen the fan shroud.

- Replaced some OE rear shocks. Wow were they in need or replacing! I hope he posts the pictures. We used Gabriel rear shocks. Yeah, I know, I know. But they were under $20 each from Rockauto and at that price they're a no brainer. Especially since the job is "relatively" easy. Car feels completely different...

VVT hub and oil leaks on 02 V40 wagon. What a messy job! $40 in parts and 16 hours of trial and error!

I believe it! I remember when I changed out my shocks and struts, made a huge difference from the worn out original shocks and struts that were in there. I went with Monroe on my car because there was a good rebate at the time. I plan to eventually switch to Koni STR.T or Bilstein HD with lowering springs, but I need some Comets first.

VVT hubs are always fun. Went through hell on my cousin's S70 with that. Now I'm pretty good with them!

Replaced heater core and while warming up, the A/C bearings started clattering. Bypassed the A/C compressor with a shorter belt and now have hot air but no cold!

Did the rear shocks last weekend and look forward to doing the front struts and wandering temperature gauge on the 240 in the upcoming weeks. Any suggestions or wise words are always appreciated!

My cousin just picked up his second S70 today for $500. Clean NA with 163k miles, runs great. Just needs front cam seals, we're hoping to do that tomorrow after overhauling all of his T5's cooling hoses with new silicone hoses.
