Great point about the mounts, mine are all new Volvo units a year and a half ago, as is the entire front suspension and steering, I’ll double check them though.
For the driver’s side C V I use a masonary chisel and a nail puller about 60 degrees apart, I’ll post some pictures when I do it next week, I’ve got a pretty good technique that I hope will help others with this somewhat ugly task! Interestingly my first indication that the CV’s were going was an almost imperceptible click just as I stopped at traffic lights. I’ll dissect the old ones and find out just which one or ones were the culprit.
BTW: the welded collar sleeve is still rock solid after 2 years, the Dorman Haldex pump lasted about 5 months and was replaced with a Volvo one.
What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

2 years has flown by, holy smokes. I need to post a thread on replacement DEM pumps. Been doing some digging and it seems there are quite a few less costly alternatives that all come out of the same factory.
Looking forward to seeing your CV thread & photos. Edit: also looking forward to your take on the old turd once you start modifying it. A downpipe paired with a deleted (no resonator), decommissioned S60R/V70R factory cat back exhaust is a perfect fit, nice kick in the pants & your ears will be blown away (not loud, just perfect DB’s). At that point you’re ready for a tune (I’d recommend a Hilton stage 1). You really need to experience it for all the monetary commitments to “make sense” (and your wife will probably forget about the “need” for a newer, plastic car
)
If you’re ever in MN, give me a holler.

Any spouse who drives a 17 year old car is a keeper. Mine roofs, too.

Nearing the end of the rework of my recently bought 08. Refurbed OEM headlamp assemblies went in last night to replace one cloudy one and one waterlogged one. Some LED low beams I'll try as part of that. Need to make sure they'll work in the halogen designed assemblies, have gotten lucky in the past. One new/used fog lamp assembly that was busted got replaced too while the bumper cover was off.
Attempted swapping rearview to manual dim as autodim was shot on mine. The circuit board was a bit different requiring cutting of the manual housing innards to make clearance. In my haste to reassemble cracked the glass so I'll have to find another via eBay or junkyard...at least I can dim it now.
The end is near, I think the list is down to new serpentine belt and tensioner, power steering fluid and at some point rear shocks and links.

Has anyone else noticed a large influx of new users recently? Is it something to do with the used car market or something and lots of people dumping their old P2's into their market at top dollar? Or is it just me...

I’ve always just figured it was Matt creating lots of new accounts & submitting oodles of “new” queries to keep us on our toes.

Some of us are just slow on the pickup.
Interesting in 2006 I shopped a base S60 non-turbo stick shift. I was jones-ing for a manual trans and disappointingly felt the $21k was too steep. I bought...eeks, gad...a PT Cruiser Limited Manual Trans for $16k. Well five years later I traded it off and certainly would have kept the S60 much, much longer. Would have been 5k well spent.
Three years ago I picked up a 150k S40 as a kids car...then two and a half years ago I was shopping for a cheap car for my other kid and came across a 2002 S60 2.4T 158k in need of some TLC for $1500. I liked the S40 but the more I fixed the S60 the more I liked it. Wish I would have jumped on the P2s sooner.

Today I bought new tires for my S60. Continental TrueContact, for $600 CDN all in.
I'm very embarrassed to say that I never noticed that my front 2 and rear 2 tires were different brands. I only checked the date code on the front (2018). I noticed dry rot on my rear tires this weekend.... mfg. date... wait for it.... 2012! I've been driving on borrowed time since I bought the car. Scary!

Something like that...had several sitting on center console with a couple sailboards on the folded down seats. Came to quick stop and mast slide forward and took out the display screen on radio. It worked but I couldn't tell what station I was listening to. I did some other work with battery off and when I reattached battery cable the radio wouldn't work. I assumed it was because it needed a code, but after installing new radio realized this model doesn't need a code! I'm thinking I did something else electrically that took out old radio completely. I do recall a brief spark in engine bay before disconnecting battery in back. I'll bet I shorted it out.
