Only 3 Volvos? Amateur

The solution to the problem of Volvos overfilling the driveway is obvious..

It's easy! Get rid of the Beamer and widen the driveway by one space!  June

Exactly. And stay away from dRiveway oRnaments.....

I have to say the E83 has been good to us - SWMBO loves it except she can't shift gears, and its up to 175k with really good Cost of ownership. Maybe 1500 in parts replaced total for 150k miles driven.

Got to find a way to turn those leaves into engine oil to sell...

I've been dRiving it today, it's been okay aside from the boost... or lack thereof. I plugged in the clutch sensor but I think I may have reversed the wires... VIDA says "faulty signal." I'll fix that tomorrow.

The Turbobricks solution for when the driveway gets too full of Volvos is to start crushin em!

I super excited and had to share.
I took my 855 into the dealership for the gas tank recall since I discovered cracks around the heat shield mount. Obviously they couldn't promise me a replacement without an inspection. After dropping her off they gave me this nice loaner....

Dont get me wrong. I am enjoying the hell out of this loaner but I still love my 855. Anyway it's been several days and no word from the dealership so I gave em a call. They said the recall had actually ended but they were going to replace my gas tank as part of a goodwill gesture anyway. I'm super excited!

Had a crazy weekend driving around Maryland. Was impressed I averaged 29mpg with all that Baltimore traffic. Got my doors blown off by a C30 T5, never seen one of those on the road before. Found a Frankensteined '98 S70 NA with VVT that was wrecked. I'm going to strip for parts. Interior is in really good shape, but unfortunately for me it's granite and not beige. Also saw a 98 S70 GLT in Nautic Blue, wow that's an amazing color.

Biggest find though of the week: I found an emerald green 1995 850 Turbo (B5234T) priced to move at $500. The Good: Runs and drives, paint is pretty decent (better than my T5), and I really like the emerald green. All new cooling system, all hoses, rad, fan, coolant bottle. Only 170k miles, 160k were with regular service at Volvo dealer. Black interior is mint, apart from shifter and headliner. 5-spoke rims look brand new. The Bad: Needs PCV service, cam seals are blown out, RH axle is clicking, needs both front calipers replaced, needs new control arms and tie rods, doors don't open from inside, has a PS leak, all fluids need changed, all vacuum lines need replaced, no record of timing service, and needs a full tune up. Owner needs it gone ASAP, but he doesn't have the heart to scrap it. I'm really tempted to buy it, but that's a lot of work before it can be a DD. Opinions (tell me what to do with my money)?

Pull the trigger and buy it.

Yeah, Nautical Blue Pearl 417 is an awesome colour. Even after 20 years.

Well done , Zion!

I'd jump on it. If it's a clean car, I'd definitely put the work into it. Sounds like a good find for $500, even if it needs some mechanical refreshing.

I feel like if it was a manual, it would be in my driveway already. Just did a quick parts calculations, and came to $800~ in parts, not factoring in 4 new tires or an alignment. I definitely could have this roadworthy again after a solid weekend's worth of labor. I'm just really concerned I'll put $1000 into this and then discover it needs a head gasket or a valve job (knowing my luck). Also really not looking forward to doing the PCV. It's eating away at me, slowly.

Of course I could always hit the guy up who wanted to sell me his '98 V70 T5M with 290k mi for $3k, needs no work, and essentially take the same risk.

Washed and added quick detailer. A step or two away the 350' km and 15 years mostly disappear.

I finally installed the $40 set of Heliums (yes, they were $10 per piece). They are now shod with new Pirelli Cinturatos. The rims polished up nicely.
