I have a 1/4" drive Kobalt T30 socket that works great for removing the steering wheel air bags. The shank is a little longer than most, so it has no problem reaching back there. It makes it a LOT easier to loosen those screws.

Replaced oil filler cap gasket, replaced throttle adjustment screw (was lost to the ether by previous owner). Tomorrow is rebuild oil cooler return line and replace gasket for turbo oil return line, and clean all the oil underneath. Ugh. Also, soon fix this mess:

Mounted 4 new tires(Potenza RE980AS,) changed the oil, replaced the strut bolts (broke one the day after I got her and had a temp bolt in till the new ones showed up), 4 wheel alignment (turned into 2 wheel after finding a broken trailing arm bushing retainer), found out I'm gonna be doing exhaust work soon, smoked the intake and found a massive leak(s) near the turbo (might have a guestion or two about that posted later), broke a bleeder screw, blew out the cowel drains, checked the cabin filter, and bought trailing arm bushing kits.

I guess that's enough for today, lol.

I may have found the boost leak on the R today... turns out the PTC is not totally seated in the intake elbow. I’m gonna have to see if I can get one at the junkyard tomorrow.
It seems odd to me that it would be an issue being that it’s before the turbo, but I guess it makes sense.

That grommet at the base of the PTC is still available from Volvo for a couple bucks, worth it for a car like yours that gets serious work and a tune. I posted the part number in that recent PTC thread here.

Gromet would cause MASS meter problems due to enter non meter air.

The bridgestones are very good. esp. the Pole position Potenza family. The traction is denominal. (spell check error) How did you decide on the 980as? I just got the 970as but had trouble finding them, maby they are discontinued. saw some negative reviews on the 980as so went back to 970as. Not sure why they have so many models very confusing. I have the s02 up front just for fun. you cannot break them loose. but they have a 150 tread wear. would like the s04 but they cost more though wear longer. I may be wrong, but the 980as only had one A for traction. the 970as has AA. the s02 and up have AAA. I think you could run the autobahn with them even in the rain. I noticed Bridgestone is not made in Japan any more and is merged with Firestone so hoping its not the end for the old quality.

Went with the 980as as they are the current model in the line, recommended by a coworker that has them on his GTO and (mumbles quietly) I work for Bridgestone Retail Operations and get them half off.

Bridgestone and Firestone merged years back. I think the offical company line is "to gain market share where the other brand dominated."

If there is a tire thread somewhere, I'll review them there after I fix some issues and can give them a few good runs.

It would definitely make sense, being that it's post-MAF. The car has definitely been using a lot of gas too, so I have a feeling this has been a problem.

Removed headliner on 850 sedan, I left my seats in and removed through passenger door, but I think I'll remove seats for install. Headliner board is not fragile as it looks and feels. I did have to bend it quite a bit to get it out, but it retains it shape. Of course I broke the sunroof headliner trim ($80.00 from Headliner Express) I'll pick away at it a little each day this week.This is more like an arts and crafts project. Many thanks to the members who did write ups on this headliner subject. This is something I wouldn't tackle without this information
