Welcome and thanks for sharing this interesting info. I hope that anyone here has the technical ability to appreciate it.

Makes me want to get on a plane with my scanner and archive that entire bench full of paperwork and photos. Some information is too good to be forgotten.

I had the exact same thought, except I was thinking about asking him to send his 35mm slides to me for scanning. I have a $5k (in 2000, new) Nikon scanner, it still works perfectly, and I know how to use it. :wink:

I'd have thought to get on a plane with my scanner and go there, but surely the Swedish AC system/plug type is different. :lol:

I think most high end or medium range electric equipment in the past two decades has a square 3 pin connector where the European or US power wires are plugged in. I remember in early iterations some electronics had a 220v/110V switch next to tgat 3 pin connector. These days they work with both voltages w/o any switches.

Most very power brick is rated 100-240 VAC now, and 50-60 Hz so they can be sold worldwide

Japan was always fun as half the country is 50 Hz and half 60 Hz, a EE nightmare

Seriously? I thought Japan was 60Hz throughout.
The US is 50Hz, right?
What about Canada? 120 or 230Volt?

North America feeds 240 VAC 60 Hz to residences but most applicances are 120 VAC using only one phase of the feed. Exceptions are large current devices like Air conditioners, (hot) Water heaters, hot tubs, fast car chargers, and electric chairs in dungeons.
