Re: 1990 240 fuel relay no start
i got EZK codes for knock sensor and ECT (replaced ECT 7,000 miles back), and ECU codes for ECT and the idle and load richness. the distributor looks good, as far as i can tell.

Appreciate you mentioning the switch. I have several bricks around from a whole era in my life. Getting back around to starting a few and currently working on a 1990 240DL (4-door sedan) my son gave me. 12-15 years ago I bought him a 1989 when he was in 9-10 grade, which he drove until he parked it and bought the 1990 5-6 years ago. It died on the side of the road 3 years ago. I've done cap, wires, rotor (all of which it needed), coil and CP Sensor (which it probably didn't). Also remember replacing the in-tank pump when it first died.June wrote: ↑30 Jan 2023, 17:25 You need a wiring schematic for the fuel pumps. Possibly follow/check wiring/grounds back to the computer. If this was a same Era Buick, the ECM would control the ground for the fuel pump relay. Then in case of failure the oil pressure sensor provides a backup circuit. I assume Volvo also uses the computer to control the ground to the fuel pump relay. Since these cars won't run when the relay dies, I assume no backup circuit exists. These cars are famous for ignition switch failure, especially if you have a heavy Keychain. June
Many years ago the 1989 switch must have gone wonky, because I bought a lot of 3-4 switches from eBay. I know where the extras are, and will try one of those after doing some more ground cleaning and such.
Have minor issues with the 1989, and a host of S70s sitting in my field, most of which pulled to their current position on their own power. Hopefully get time to clean up and get a few road worthy again this summer. Thanks again, and thanks to OP.
