I have some consternation writing about it. For a dollar, I should have 0 complaints, and that is true. I hope me pointing out flaws will not be taken as complaining. I’m just showing how it is.

To me, not at all. You are documenting the deficiencies, and I would be very concerned if the PO did not know about them. The interior does not look all that bad and a good clean should have it pretty nice. Door cards are a challenge.

I watched an interesting Wheeler Dealers recently where an upholsterer in the UK was repairing a similar issue on a car. He used a small drill bit to drill through the backing card from the back and then injecting small amounts of glue with a syringe and needle through the holes. He then glued the vinyl back little by little to get it back to looking good.

I would thing gentle warming of the vinyl with a hair dry may help it to stretch back to shape as well. Slow and painful but possible. I had considered trying that a few years ago but my test panel got junked in the house move.

If the car runs and drives, then that is a huge step forward. A Stage 0 will be a benefit over time. Sure, some of the dings may not buff out, but it can be made a little less obvious. Maybe a rear door may turn up in the right color. The rear wheel arch and the 'plod' in the doors might be a little more challenging.

It depends in the end of the day if you want a functional daily, or a pristine show car.

There was more smoke out the back of the fighter jet flying overhead! You are onto a winner I think with that car.

Glad to hear it is planned as a daily. Up here the cars look like that after a couple of years in Calgary parking lots! :lol: :lol:

I had 13 dents removed from one new car I owned for 3 years and with 30k miles on it! :o :cry:

That is not a reflection on my wife's or my driving. :lol:

It looks better than most everything in my fleet. If it had gone on C/L who knows where the poor thing would've ended up .Nice save.

Practice your sculpting skills with a little bit of body filler, and hit it with some touch-up paint. Is it the " proper " Barrett Jackson way ? No.
But with one Saturday, it would be 100% better. I can smell the filler now ....

Here's my trade-up gambit:

I asked a guy down the alley if he'd trade his 850 R for my V70 + cash.

This is a 850R I've appreciated and written about here on MVS Forums. It shows wear and miles. I've love to fix it up.

Maybe John reads this... he's mentioned he's been on MVS in the past.

As opposed to the silver '98, the red 850 is a car that speaks to my soul. I can't get excited about the '98, but can about the 850.

Is the 850R a wagon? If it is I can understand your interest.

If it is a sedan, then I would keep the GLT wagon.
