That part I can't recall. I can't remember if you have to replace it or if there is a way to bypass it to allow the other stuff to function.

If it's a failed siren module, the LIN bus path is probably shorted. The siren issue is pretty well known, internal NiCad battery leaks, chemical corrosion of the PCB inside occurs, often (as was my case) causing random siren output typically in the middle of the night. Some folk have had luck in repair (cut open module, replace battery, reseal), I replaced mine outright as the circuit board damage was pretty bad.

I'll guess that if the UEM LIN bus path is opened up (connector removed), the UEM will function. Now the difficult part is proving this easily, a number of rivets need to come off the right-side front wheel well to get to the module. Maybe see the links for reference, decide if it's worth trying: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/fix-s ... volvo-s80/ (P2 are all the same), https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/sire ... nt.622539/

See this wiring diagram for additional detail, you might have luck by pulling CEM fuse #8, maybe try that before removing the siren module connector. Fuse is located under the dash left side:

Thank you for your reply's. I'm wondering also if when the PO replaced the headliner something could've got pinched at the UEM. I'll pull the #8 fuse once I'm back home and post back. Despite being an owner of several Volvo's over the years it's been forever since I've had to make any repairs or diagnoses. Thanks again.

so, I'm just now getting around to this post after being out of the country for work. I found my Vida/Dice unit and pulled up the codes and it's telling me siren communication fault UEM-0004 and sun roof communication fault UEM-0005. This is not a surprise. No SRS code pulled up though. I'm getting ready to list the Volvo for sale and I want to fix the SRS light. If I order a new siren module will this fix my issue? Thank you!

You could find a refurbished (battery replaced) unit off eBay. Search " Volvo S60 S80 V70 XC70 XC90 Genuine OE Remanufactured Alarm Siren Module 8637399 " as one example. I might do that were I wanting to fix to sell.

No guarantee but yeah, it's probably the module. Some rivets and a security screw come off, plenty instructions and videos out there how to do it. Had to replace the module on my first XC90 about 10 years ago, it's pretty straightforward.

I ordered a new siren module and it arrives later today. I was able to find my VidaDice and hooked it up but interestingly there were no codes for the SRS, just the siren module and sunroof fault. Once I replace the module hopefully everything will be right as rain!

Thank you for responding! I pulled the #8 fuse and it didn't make a difference, the siren module still hasn't arrived but once it does I'll post back on whether or not it fixed any of my issues.
