So relay #214 under the dash.
Looks like there’s 4 connectors for the seats from the harness left bottom, left back. Right bottom. Right back.

Sorry this is me just thinking aloud but I’m assuming the heater elements since they are a separate part number should be somewhat easily removable from the cushions. Looks like a handful of t25 that hold the bottom of the seat to the cushion. It may be easier to pull the element and then just reinstall them in the seats you already got especially if then going overseas.

I don’t think I had a latch problem just a rust problem. :o

I knew this car had some rust but didn’t think it was that bad. The other car has been in Colorado it’s whole life and the underside has zero rust

Interesting. I imagined the wires and relay running off the heated front seat relay.

Now it would be interesting to know if the wires from relay 214 to wherever are prewired or if they were added only if ordered. My 94 for example has no speakers in the rear doors, and therefore no speaker wires into the rear doors.

I totally agree, the cushions and upholstery part are negligible. I only need the heater elements. At least in the front seats they are easy to replace.

I’ll pull the center console tomorrow and take a look but from what I’ve seen there may be an outlet next to the OBD port that then runs the rear seats. I’m assuming the relay acts as the 15 min self timer on them.

So the wiring seems pretty simple so far. Maybe slightly different than I expected. Looks like the heaters are wired in series with a ground that goes back into it he loom.

So far it looks like there’s just a blue/white and purple/white wire that are leading back up to the dash so I need to go find where there’s go.

wow, thank you for this level of detail.
My first Volvo 850 memory dates back to a ski trip with a friend's 850 and me falling asleep in the backseat and waking up because my backnwas super hot. 25 years I have multiple 850ies but no rear heated seats

My first car was a 740. The heat never worked but the heated seats still did. A little to well you’d have to crack the sunroof to regulate the temp in winter.

Looking at some other older threads some people claim that the wiring should be there under the seats. At least on the passenger side it looks like it’s wired into one of the blocks/connectors behind the passenger side airbag. So I’d think I could take out single connector out of the block that it would lead to but I may run to the junkyard this weekend to check out some of the 850s to see if they may be prewired at least down the door sills.
