As far as switching from a 13 to a 15, I don't know of any problems as long as they fit the same. But that is just a good guess, you will have to research that.
The turbo rebuild was not hard at all. I have had my motor out and rebuilt it approx. 40,000 miles ago. So I have been around my motor on many occasions. I currently have the intake off so I can replace the PCV system, heater core out, ect.. In other words if you have a general nack for mechanics it should not be a problem.
I liked the idea of spending $60-80 on a rebuild kit instead of $300 for a used one.

What did you decide to do? By the way I saw your post about this on Volvospeed.

I just found this about the drip on the bottom of the turbo. It has a nice pic of the hanging drip.

I eventually found a used turbo from a junkyard that had only 102k miles on it and decided to buy it, it was $300, which included delivery.
The mechanic who I bought the car from is currently installing the new turbo right now, and should hopefully have it done by tomorrow. He said a couple of the bolts had to be cut out in order to get the old one off, so I'm probably glad I didn't end up trying to do this myself. . .
Hopefully he will still have the old turbo, so I can post a pic showing why it was leaking. This leak was not the subtle drip that many other posters have alluded to - this was almost a quart of oil a day on my to-from trip to work.
Again, thanks for all of the replies - it was a great help. The Volvospeed crew also had some great responses regarding the differences between the two turbo's and how interchangable they are, so I'd recommend that thread if anyone has any questions regarding that.

Holy ... This pic can be a great find. Definitely post it. Or the answer to why you were losing a quart of oil a day.acrocentric wrote: Hopefully he will still have the old turbo, so I can post a pic showing why it was leaking. Please let use know how you make out with this repair. A quart of oil a day is a huge leak -- if it ends up that the turbo was the culprit, I'd like to know.
I've just now transitioned from my "single drop of oil per day on the garage floor" (the normal turbo drip) to a spot each day about 6" in diameter. I'm pretty sure it's due to the PCV system (which I'm going to replace).

Check and see if its transmission fluid. My car does not leak oil out of the weep hole but it leaks transmission fluid out of the weep hole.chuckcintron wrote:
