Just a note for those who dont want to clean some of the more difficult parts themselves, we can clean them for you ultrsonically for very small fee. It makes them look like new. Works great on ETM's, fuel injectors, anything that can be submersed. We can clean an ETM for around $25.

My daughter gave me my 2001 volvo s80 t6 back after she took it to a Detroit area volvo dealer who said she needed $3400 in repairs. I gave her $3000 so she could put a deposit on a newer car so she is happy. I repaired the driver's front window for $9.00, dealer: $665. I replaced the pcv oil seperator for $60, dealer $837. Replaced the (2) o2 sensors pre-cat for $300, dealer $1160. While replacing the oil seperator I also replaced the "o" rings on the fuel injectors, replaced the spark plugs and cleaned the ETM. I am not a mechanic but I do love this volvo s80 turbo. The one greatest fix and cheapest was the cleaning of the ETM. What a difference that made, it blew my hair back when I hit the accelerator. Thank you so much for the directions on how to do it. It is not difficult but requires patience. Well worth the effort!

Great Site!
I cleaned my "99 S80 ETM June 13/11 after receiving an orange "Check Engine Service Required" message. My local mechanic used two readers & could not pick-up a code so I had to go to Volvo for $139.00 & they diagnosed "ETM-9150. The original ETM was replaced @ 115,000 km in 2007 under the Volvo recall ,the car now has 163,042 km. So, I got 3000 km/2 months from the cleaning, however, other than the warning message the car had run well.
The other day my wife backed it into the garage & the brake lights would not go off after leaving the vehicle. I tried, pumping the brakes, moving it up & down the driveway to no avail. I pulled the fuse & replaced it with a new one, no difference. I disconnected the battery to reset the ECM & that worked after an extended 2nd attempt. (5 min.) Well the brake lights went off but the ETM warning message was now red & the car chugged @ idle! Coincidence? It has had "Brainfarts" with the ECM previously. Anyways, I ordered a "Xemodex" ETM Aug. 15th am & had the unit 16th am & the reinstall was a piece of cake after previously cleaning the ETM. The brake lights came on again this afternoon (18th)! Any ideas, Brake pedal relay, ECM going? Car is in great shape for its year otherwise.
