V70 start stall issue

Go for the immobiliser aerial before you waste any more cash on engine related parts, this aerial when faulty produces exactly the same symptoms you describe and is cheap/ easy to fix, its fitted around the ignition barrel - Mike

Thanks all for some great advice. This is an update to the start/stall saga.

The start/stall problem has not recurred (knock on wood) since cleaning the MAF. However, as previously posted, that is when the O2 sensor code developed. I replaced both O2 sensors this weekend and the car runs great. The engine didn't miss with the faulty sensor, but it ran rough... it kind of rumbled and the exhaust smelled rich. Now the CEL is gone, the car runs smoothly and so far no stalling.

dbo550, I tried pull a part, but was not able to find the right combination of model, year, non-turbo etc..

se4n, I also shopped amazon, and was able to get Denso sensors for $141 (front) and $125 (rear). I think the 1999 sensors are different and more expensive.

volvomileage, Denso makes the Volvo stamped parts I pulled off, so that gave me some confidence that they would work ok.

mikealder, if the start/stall thing comes back, the I will replace the immobiliser aerial as you suggested.

My wife texted me today and wrote "thanks for working on the car, it drives smooth... no it glides, I love it."
