Usually I quote the 'Calgary' advantage or the 'Alberta' advantage due to the stupid high prices we get charged for some stuff. But $80 to cut a key? The last ones I had cut were under $20 each at a specialist locksmith.

Only a few places can make the surface cut ones. Normal key like a house key is about $15 at the hardware store. Average automotive shop rate here is $130+/hr.
