Ok well i would like to post a solution to my problem to assist others in the future that this may happen to...First off i would like to say that Relay "K" on the diagram has nothing to do with the dash lights...it controls the upper map lights and not the dash lights. when i pulled mine i noticed my dash lights still lighting up so i knew it was not the correct relay.
with that said the solution was not the round light switch it was the little skinny dimmer switch. unfortunatly the junk yard i went to didnt have the 850 dimmer switch, but i was able to trim the back of a s70 switch so that the plug worked and then i just relocated my rear fog switch next to the round light switch. (this is only till i can find the OEM 850 one or a black s70 switch..i kinda like the bigger wheel dimmer vs the little slider). so for future referance the dimmer switch is the problem! and its really easy to upgrade/swap to a x70 style dimmer. i can post up pix if anyone needs to see what i did?

Btw, ive been having bad urges for a JY run.... sooo yeah, lol next weekend im SOOO going! ill grab you one!
Yeah if you need one no problem, just pay me the shipping and how ever much it cost at the jy, shouldn't cost to much.Jim-1995 850 wrote:Well, I'm having the same problem in my daughter's 95 850. I'll be pulling the dash soon to replace the cover panel, fix the odometer & check this problem, too.
Robb - can you get me a dimmer and relay from the JY?
Im not sure which relay it is... so if you can let me know, id be more then happy to get both. Im fairly certain they have the dimmer switch, since they have a couple 850s, or at least they did last weekend.

Sorry, I haven't been on this site for a while to respond. I won't get to see the car until this weekend & if the weather is as bad as predicted, I'll be in no mood to work on it then. I did get a new dash cover and odometer gear to install & will check the dash light problem then & let you know if I need any JY parts.
Thanks, Jim
Thanks, Jim

I fixed our 850 instrument lights. Here's the diagnostic procedure I wrote up:

A simple fix is to unplug the dimmer and jumper pin 1 - BRN/ORG to pin 5 - PNK. Then, they are on when the key is on ACC or RUN.
