It's been a while since my last update, but I continue to make slow progress on my XC between business trips.

I ordered a new PCV system from ipd and since it requires dismantling the intake, I decided to do a phoenolic spacer while I'm at it. I also picked up new spark plug cover bolts, oil fill cap seal, and a transmission dipstick seal from my local Volvo dealer. I then bought a new-to-me rearview mirror since the one which came in my car when I bought it was an aftermarket one which stuck to the windshield. My little brother broke one of my headlight wiper arms while cleaning the snow off of my car this past winter, so I finally got around to ordering another one and went with a pair of new wiper blades while I was at it. Here are a few pics, hope to have the install done soon.

Thanks for the updates, XVT. It's great to follow along.

Those rotors may be the most beautiful auto part I've ever seen. If I had one I'd hang it on the wall and it'd be art. Or maybe it's the juxtaposition of it vs. the old rusted parts. Hmm.

Finally got around to doing some more work on the car. I jumped on the sale that IPD had recently and ordered some parts.

Installed:
New PCV System
New IPD Phenolic Intake Manifold Spacer (since I had to take the intake apart anyway)
New Plugs/Wires
New Air Filter
New IPD Viton Oil Cap Seal
New Spark Plug Cover Bolts
Rearview mirror
New Headlight Wiper Arm
New Headlight Wiper Blades

I also took some time to clean a little bit as the clogged PCV system had caused quite a bit of oil to leak out the oil dipstick.

I noticed that a lot of my vacuum lines are really brittle and a couple of my turbo piping fittings are really degraded so I will be addressing these issues next. Pics to come soon.

You can always just order the RIP kit from iPd since getting new OEM turbo piping and fittings is going to be pricey. Heck they might give you a price break if you buy enough items.

The brake cable replacement really is a serious PITA according to the MVS and Haynes. So I ended up hiring an independent Volvo shop do mine because TreadQuarters couldn't figure it out! Seriously, my e-brake wouldn't hold after I got it back from TreadQuarters. We're in the middle of figuring out how much of a refund I will be getting.
:o The beater just won't die! So we're clawing our way back to Stage 0.

Thanks for the input, KlubMarcus,

I picked up a set of 16" wheels from an 850 (don't remember the 'name' of them, but I have always liked the style) off of craigslist for cheap, but they needed some work. Two were in decent shape, but the other two had severe surface corrosion.

I spent around 8 hours of sanding and painting to get these buggers into shape. Started with 80-grit sandpaper on the tough stuff, sanded them all with 220-grit followed by 600-grit. I then washed them with soap and water, towel dried, and then went over them with some acetone to remove anything I missed.

I then hit them with three coats of Dupli-Color Graphite wheel paint and I am very happy with how they turned out.

They look great, XVTer. Those are "Columbas", fitted to turbo 850s, except Rs and Platinums.

This car has now been SOLD. My focus has now moved to the wife's XC90, my Silverado, and our Camry (Commuter).

Maybe in the next few years, I will have the chance to fix/build another one.

I think that I will most likely start with an 'R' next time.
