Sanded any rough areas & gave it a wipe down with paint thinner. light short burst sprays, I also always unmask the while the paint is still fresh so it doesn't dry with the tape and peel.

Don't waste your time doing this. Get a product called Forever Black. IPD has it.

My 03 V70 bumper trim was completely white/grey from Florida sun damage. This stuff is amazing. More of a dye than a silicone dressing like Mothers or Meguires. Brought back the trim to like new. It is a little more work than the heat gun probably but it lasts and looks perfect a year later. I masked off the areas around the trim with blue painters tape. If you get some on the car paint you can clean it off with a moist cloth right away. I did several coats all around letting it dry between applications. Car looks brand new.

Trust me..just do it.
