Yes, it was the original M20, matching numbers to boot. I grabbed the rear view mirror for our 2002, but the car was in amazing shape for that many miles. The leather seats were still intact! My favorite of the M engines is the 1968-83 2.0 M10, very reliable. After that, the 1.8 e30's were a piece of junk.
That 850 was also in really good shape for the miles on it. Old European cars for the win!
