No. The 960 throttle body has different positioning for the linkage, and TPS.osman wrote:I already have a NA intake manifold lying around and a 960 throttle/body plate is easily attainable. Seems like a nice addition to my T5 motor/turbo/ecu swap with white injectors. Instead of tapping a third intake manifold hole for the turbo vacuum, why not just use one of the throttle body "tree" options?
So Should I use the throttle body itself from the 960 or just the plate in a 850 TB on a 850NA intake Manifold, also have you done the NA cams mod?
I used an N/A throttle body from a '94 850 that had no EGR or other vacuum attachments.
The only thing you have to do is direct a vacuum from the manifold to the turbo.
I did point that out in the other photo. I brought that vacuum fitting to a NAPA parts place near me to get a matching tap for that thread. It was a Saturday just before closing time, and I was so happy he had one. I believe the tap was $4. or so.
I drilled that hole, cut the threads, and the old vacuum fitting was put in the same place where the original piece was.
I believe that vacuum delivery is probably consistent when coming from within the plenum, as opposed to a tree that has other parasitic vacuum taps.
It is also an indication of boost.
There is likely a reason for that design. Also that little place on the N/A manifold for the fitting. Just in case we might figure out an interesting modification.
So after the very simple drill, and tap, (clean up shavings) That was that.
Oh, I have not done the cams. That is a can of worms where the flood gates of oil drips I do not want to open with the wagon , yet.
If I blow out a cam seal, or start to have leakage from the cam cover, I might go there.
In the mean time, I am afraid I may already have to be spending money for new front rubber, due to my lack of throttle pedal restraint.
It seems to be working well.
