I suppose that either lower screw would be a total pain if it is stripped. As long as I can find bolts with the right threading, I'll definitely replace them with hex bolts!

these are replacement screws from McMasterCarr:

92290A188 Metric 316 Stainless Steel Socket Head Cap Screw, M4 Thread, 50mm Length, .7mm Pitch, packs of 10

92153A418 Metric Type 316 Stainless Steel Split Lock Washer, M4 Screw Size, 7.6mm OD, 0.8mm min Thick, packs of 100

I chose stainless , the torque is low so strength isnt an issue, and they wont rust.

Hey all,

So I finally got a nice day at home, and I attempted to grind off the bolt head with my dremel. But I only succeeded in ruining the grinding bit without making much of a dent in the bolt. I was using a bit that looks like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004UDKA/ref ... 25410_item
It ground the bit down to nothing.
Any advice on what I'm doing wrong? Is the bit getting too hot? I had the dremel at 10,000 rpm.
Thanks so much, and it's ok if you tell me I'm making a stupid mistake..

A better cutter than the grinding stone is a Carbide Bur. You can order them from McMaster Carr or check Home Depot, they may have one on the shelf. McMaster is the safest place to order, in our area, its next day delivery. Carbide burs will last a long time, its worth getting a better one.

I used a Cylindrical—Flat End, End Cut bur and the screw head ground down easily. The screws are fairly mild steel, once you get going they grind away.

Fixed! Finally after many delays, I got the ABS module off and sent it to Matty Moo to be fixed. Then I had to figure out how to re-insulate the power wires to the module, since the insulation flaked off completely with all my activity in there.

I ordered one of the universal contact removal tools, but quickly found out that on my car, you can't use it to get the pins out of the plug. It looks like they're imbedded in a piece of molded rubber that is inside the plastic plug.
So I managed to make some insulation with rubber and electrical tape, and pushed it up the wires hopefully far enough into the plastic cover on the ABS pump.

Plugged everything back in, put in the fuses, and hooray!! I have a working speedometer! :-)

Stock is E5 but you can use E6 socket, I discovered that by chance.
