2000 v70xc car died and now won't start

plus...the starter motor spins as though the bendix is not engaging on the flywheel. tells me that there is no resistance due to compression building on that stroke.

so this suggests a major failure...with all plugs installed, i can turn the motor without any resistance.
as i think back, the motor began to gradually loose power. as i was on the highway, speed would drop. i would drop down a gear to get back up to 65. this happened multiple times. finally, i was revving out at ~4k to maintain 50 and then it died.

pulled the head...mystery solved. exhaust valves crashed into the pistons. pictures posted later.
