Thanks esl. Sorry for the delay, but got excited by finally getting Vida 2014A working with the help of another forum regular.

I've hopefully ordered the correct version this time:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-FTDI-FT232R ... ls&vxp=mtr

This claims to me a FTDI cable.

I have been sent a copy of VOL-FCR 1.3.6 by another friend and just have to figure out how to convert from a .jpeg file to a .rar file. It couldn't be sent as an .exe file as my e-mail folks didn't like it!

All this fun and more. Next I will have to find a suitable candidate to test the VOL-FCR and my reset tool on as I don't own one currently (if I did I probably would be living in the dog house if I was lucky!)

Appreciate the encouragement and support!

Neil.

Rename it from whatever the filename is.jpg to whatever the filename is.rar. Windows will argue with you a little bit but tell it to do it anyway. To be safe, copy it as whatever the filename is-1.jpg before you rename it and that way you will have a copy of the original.

Thanks Lee. The original is in my e-mail so I am ok with having an original.

I was part way there before my 2 brain cells fried earlier. I king of have it working in the trial version, but still have to add the crack code in after that.

Got to love technology!

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but it looks like someone's already manged to do that once!
I have a Volvo fault code reader cable that came with the Vol-FCR software, and today I got a serial to usb adapter to use the cable. I connected everything and opened Vol-FCR, clicked start comms, and it won't work. It says the same thing it does when nothing is connected. I have version 1.3.06. How do I get this to work? I need to read my transmission codes.

I purchased the VAG-COM USB KKL 409.1 cable for AUDI VW OBD2 OBD 2 from ebay about 3 months ago. It worked for me to reset a SRS code. I live in Charlotte and would be glad to loan it to you.

I've been able to get a USB cable to work but you need to go into the Windows settings and have the USB emulate COM1 with the device hooked up.

Even with the converter you need to do the same or VOL-FCR won't be able to communicate.

Okay, that makes a little more sense. I'll try that, because I haven't changed any settings.

I changed the port, and now it's telling me interface error, and to check connections. The ignition was in position 2, and everything was connected. I checked all the connections and got the same thing. Any ideas?

I got my VAG-COM KKL cable today, and I was able to successfully read come codes (SRS and climate control, two things I know are bad) but I can't get the transmission to give me any codes. VOL-FCR tells me that connection was lost, but if I go to another item, such as SRS, it works fine. It seems I can't reset the service light, either. How can I get transmission codes?
