If I were to swap in updated connectors wouldn't I need to have the unit's software updated at a dealership? I'm a 9 hour drive from the nearest. That's why I thought the (super expensive) Xemodex - pre-programmed one was my only choice.

No need to reprogram your own unit. Swap it in and forget about it. Research this and other forums.......

I've done a bunch of reading and have come to the conclusion that I should buy the pre programmed module from Xemodex. I'm much more comfortable with wrenches and tubes than circuits and volts.

Xemodex units have a proven track record.

They seem to have overcome the inherent issues of an uncooled circuit board directly attached to a lump of hot metal

Thanks for the comment. And apparently they are on sale this month. So next pay cheque I'm going to order one and stay within my skill set.

This also might seem like a naive question, but in reading the tutorial on how to replace the Pcv system it is advised to remove the fuel pump, crank the engine over and then replace the fuse. But couldn't I just pull the fuse from the fuel pump and bleed the line from the manifold?
