Thanks. I am glad to hear.
You might be able to still read a date code on the belt, too. Look hard with a flashlight and turn the belt over slowly by the crank pulley nut. If you take the spark plugs out to change them, its a lot easier.

Since you don't know how many miles are on the plugs, thats a good idea too.

@goVolvo,

Ask the previous owner for service records.

If you can't find service records, then I can tell you that visual inspection of the TB can be deceiving b/c a TB with 100K can look nice. But it can break at 120K or 130K ruining your engine.

Best is to replace everything at that mileage:
WP: Aisin
TB and rollers: Volvo dealer price is cheaper than aftermarket (for the TB kit).

To clarify: only replace everything if you have no service records. It may well be you don't need to replace anything at all.

If you have no WRITTEN documentation, replace it all.

You really only need to add about $40 worth of tools above a minimum set.

If you set the marks right, roll the engine over a couple of times after you're done, it is near impossible to hack this up. Really, how many times has anyone reported damage to the engine after doing the job because they messed up the marks?

It has never happened, so even if OP does it, s/he has the honor of being the first!!

Followup - OP has limited space for car work and needs car for work, so decided to send to shop.

My brother managed to dropped the car off the jack even after I get him on his hands and knees to show him where the jack point was. So... yeah, he is not allowed to touch anything else other than the steering wheel and gas cap.

Jacks are very dangerous. That is why I use jack stands.

I know the job has already been done but the thread is still open for comments.

How do you propose to use the jack stands without using the jack first?
