I'm saying that there are posts about the Sacer not working for every car, without modification to the shaft flats, to alter the sweep range position.
. ..and yes your core, should you need to go that route, may not be accepted by Xemodex.

The problem is NOT always the TPS. So, swapping the TPS when there is another issue is a waste. And yes, you are taking a risk but not being sure.

Changing the flat spot on the D shaft has nothing to do with the "programming" It is merely the voltages that the ETM will start up at. Starting voltage at rest with key in Pos II should be between 1.28 and 1.55 volts across Pin 1 & 3 on TPS 2 side (Sacer side).

The programming numbers are in Network section in Vida and are viewable for each module in the car including ETM. If the numbers don't match between two different ETMs the chances are it won't run the car unless it's ETM software which will run on early or late ECM (engine control) software of the same car model ie. 2000 P80 turbo model.

After working on and programming over 200 ETMs I seem to have some understanding.......

I ordered the kit from ARD, I'd rather gamble with $100 than $500, we'll see what happens. Given what I've replaced so far, it's really all I can think of that's left.

There is no gamble at all, if you follow the flow chart to determine if the ETM/TPS needs to be replaced and get the Xemodex. Not trying to push you either way. Everything I have stated are just objective facts. I hope it is an uneventful job, for you.
Precopster's info about "Starting voltage at rest with key in Pos II should be between 1.28 and 1.55 volts across Pin 1 & 3 on TPS 2 side (Sacer side). " may come in handy should the TPS position, need adjusting.
As always, keep us updated on your results. It does help others.

Also at precopster 'programming' is written in my post with the hyphens to denote that the term programming may not be considered programming in a strict computer sense, yet it is programming.
The post I read about this was an early one, by an engineer who was working out the details. It may have been Misha. I do believe the gentleman that posted was from Israel. May have even been on a different Volvo site, although MVS is my go to. It was nearly a year ago but that was the conclusion, to some Sacer TPS matching problems.

If kit is installed properly the circuit board is at fault.

Can you hear the ETM start up and then power down about 8 secs later when ign is in PosII ??

Yep it starts up and powers down. Driving around it's still fine everywhere but idle, at idle it surges and the lights flicker like it's about to stall out.
