These don't appear to be that hard to get. At least two of the parts suppliers at the top of the page have rear coil springs for your car in stock... $57 - $150.

The service station guy probably called his local parts supplier who did not have one in stock. I would suggest seeing a local independent garage rather than service station mechanic. Even chains such as AAMCO do suspension work.

Personally, I would just replace the spring that is broken.
2011 XC70 T6 - current
2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Q2 - Totaled in 2022. Not my fault.
2011 XC60 - sold
2000 V70XC - given to a friend, wish I still had it.

Shops with experienced Volvo techs can do the rear spring in less than an hour since they can rise the car high in the air and drop shock assembly right down. So ~$80 for an aftermarket springs plus $80 for labor, multiply by two. Fair.

Lesjofors 42 958 42 is likely OE. At least, OEM. $75/each.

You need to pick springs exactly for your suspension code, or it may be too soft or too firm.

You drove in with a nice Volvo that isn't very old. They quoted you for a full rear suspension refresh because they're assuming you're picky about the car. And whatever shop time manual/software they're using says it should take some ridiculous amount of time, they don't know better as they don't know any of the time saving tricks. They'd rather quote high, replace everything and make sure it drives good as new rather than just replace the single spring, leaving the potential for somewhat imperfect handling/ride quality and risk you coming back unhappy/negative word of mouth/bad online review etc.

Lux & high end sport/performance owners tend to get handled differently than some little old lady driving around 15-20 year old Buick. Especially if it's reasonably new and still nice.
