June, please post some pics when you can. I think we'd all love to see it!
This was the inside of the S60. I was about to get inside when i snapped this photo. It was dirty from sitting for days in the back lot so i didn't snap the exterior. I went back to photograph the car in case someone else on here was looking for such a clean car and it sold and was allready gone.

Michelle loves the C70 and next time i see her i will add a few pictures of the car. Funny thing is she picked black on black, as the 5 year old C70 was ice white like my car. She simply fell in love with the black one which is a 07 with 50K. I believe that the engine and transmission is the same as the 08 S60.

I understand that feeling when you see a car that catches your eye and practicality goes out the window. Michelle says she feels more secure driving with the extra visibility especially backing up with the open convertible top. I didn't want to bust her bubble that here in Florida it rains all the time and the top will be up quite a bit.

I am sure quite a few MVS members out there are facing 1st car situations and want our children safe as possable. My concern initially was not getting her one of those late model 5 cylinders with trouble. I think 2013 model year? At the time of my original post i wasn't sure what years were effected. As a child stuck on the side of the road waiting for a tow can be dangerous in many ways. I feel it's a risk i prefer not to take with my daughter. She is living on campus 250 miles from home so the car has to be reliable.

I really think a thread here on MVS which lists the Volvo cars that are best for our children to start with is a important topic. Obviously some models are safer, others are more reliable, and others may be more affordable. The trick is to select a well rounded model. June

Thanks for your thoughts and the photo, June.

I can feel how comfortable and supportive those seats are just sitting here looking at the photo. For anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of sitting in a Volvo P2 seat, let me tell you there is probably no equal in the automotive kingdom. The seats are thrones.

I had a 2004 V70 R, and that had the more (side) bolstered version of these seats. Those were performance thrones.

Agreed. But out of the P2 thrones the S80 seats stand out as The Throne of Thrones. Bigger, plusher and comfier than the V70\S60 seats which are already excellent but a bit sportier.

This summer I did two long solo road trips. Down to Italy and then later back from France in one go each. Each trip about 18 hours or so of driving and 1800-1900 km each way. Just pauses for food, leg stretching and caffeine. My body couldn't have handled that I many other seats.

I like my 2004 S80 seats better than the new S90 or new XC90 seats. July of 2016 i had to drive out west for a funeral and spent two days driving straight. Never had aches or pains during the time driving.

I didn't use the cruise since I like to speed. Beyond the seat, i love the T6 engine. At 90 mph it feels like its idling definitely wants to go faster. I hate driving a car that feels like i am pushing it hard to drive on the interstate. Also the car has a smooth ride and is quiet. The engine and exhaust system are quiet. Really you don't get the wisper quiet engine with the new drive e engines. To me the drive e engines sound noisy like a Japanese 4 cylinder. I find that annoying. On my S80 i like that the exhaust system is not visible.

Our P2 cars have shortcomings like the control arm bushings, strut mounts, and the 120K weeping radiator, but overall i think for those wonderful years of the P2 platform Volvo really got it right. June

Not over here on the beach unfortunately. I wanted to drive up to Savannah but Mike felt it would be too dangerous since people around here can't drive in snowy conditions. During the rain yesterday morning while i was out shopping the dash went down to 33° uhh just one degree away! My Yorkie has been on strike. Every time i try to take him out he just curls around in the pick me up position looking up and i can just see him thinking "stupid mommy, too cold, pick me up!" Forget walkies! Ahhh once again i missed the snow... June

You might have the brains for the gas tank, but on this one, Mike is indeed samurai.

Its pretty brutal watching even Washington DC in one inch of snow.

I managed to pick up a nail in a tire so I was out this morning doiing a wheel swap (if I drag a flat to my indie he does them while I wait, so thats quick)

Driving on snow and ice is easy with a Volvo. It's not like cars from the past where skills were needed to run over a damp spot. But unfortunately everyone is not as smart as we are in car selection. So I admit you guys are probably correct.

I miss the snow! Maybe next year.... June

Update on the C70. The car has been trouble free so far. My daughter though found herself in a bit of trouble with me. This weekend she is supposed to drive home to see us for the first time since Christmas. I had a look at my American Express bill today for the card she has to pay for her and the cars needs like gasoline or whatever I set no limit. Apparently she has only put $20.00 of cheapo 87 since Christmas. I am quite irritated... after all I am paying for everything, how hard is it to buy name brand 93? Her boyfriend told her not to use premium and cheapo gas is just as good as name brand. I guess I am just disappointed with her. Well this weekend when the car showes up I will add some better photos. June

For the price of a tank of gas, she knows she needs a new boyfriend.

She's ahead. ( Paraphrasing Bronx Tale)
