So as I stated earlier I never like to leave these open ended threads I say share the knowledge as people have before me I will fill in what is kinda missing for this year 1998 volvo v70xc .I am at the point with the front end lift that some of it is out there with Ken IPD lift making spacers for the front subframe but no real dimensions ...So I made the front spacers from HDPE yes cutting board material I bought some 1/8th inch material and the cutting board is 3/8th inch thick. That gave me a 1/2 inch thick spacer for the subframe the passengers side is just drilled out to the bolt diameter with a step bit the drivers side is a little different it has a 1 inch aligment bushing on the front and rear so I grabbed a 1 inch spade and drilled the center out the works great .. I see zero side effects at this time with the spacers .The front rear subframe brackets have three bolts so you will need to make the extra rear two spacers out of the same material and I bought 8.8 bolts 50mm long bolts the factory bolts will be to short oh and you will need some fender washers that are not installed in photo.. And the 30mm spacers from ebay I added two more 3/8th inch spacers on the bottom side ..

2-1/4 inch hole saw for the front subframe spacers maybe larger ??

1 inch spade bit for the the drivers side center hole

1-3/8 inch hole saw for the front rear bracket or larger ??

4 -50mm bolts for the front rear brackets ...

Oh and there's always room for improvement I hope this helps the next guy

I also drive a 1998 v70xc. My journey began after I brought home some 18" xc90 wheels with tires on them from the salvage yard. I have also installed 1" wheel spacers all around. Oh I have also performed some fender cutting. I went about lifting mine a little differently. I tried numerous ways to lift the rear beginning with a simple extension on the nivomat top stud. That didn't work, then I installed twist in spacers in the springs, that didn't work. I need to elaborate here. I am a mobile mechanic and I haul about 200 lbs of tools around. With only that amount, the lift did work, but when I attach my boat, the rear is bottomed out and would not raise. I tried three different sets of Nivomats, all used but i think they were still in good shape. So I tried some regular 850 wagon rear springs, no dice. So eventually I decide to get some rear shocks for an awd s70 sedan. I knew I needed some stronger rear springs so I drove around my local pull a part looking at all types of springs. I decided to go with some front springs off of a mid 90s 4 cylinder Ford Ranger. I had to cut about a coil off but these springs are very close to perfect.

For the front lift I installed two twist in large size spring spacers, and I put 4 washers as spacers on each of the three studs on the upper strut mounts. Although I am now thinking about the xc90 strut swap.

I personally had no luck with xc90 strut the bottom of the strut had to be modified to clear cv boot and the xc90 strut put to much camber into the front end .It was very hard to get the lift I did get out of the car in the front suspension .anything more than 2 inches of suspension lift just pushes everything to the limit ..The rear was easy with the route I went and adjustable..maybe xc70 struts from a new model hmmm

I know this an old thread, but I'm curious about camber and the subframe spacers. I lifted my P80 with strut spacers and a custom set of coilovers and it was working, but I had some positive camber. I added the BNE camber plates and in less than 1000 miles the inner CV boot tore on the passenger side. I think having the lift and trying to dial in the camber closer to spec was too much.

My current plan is to just pull the spacers to drop it a bit and hopefully make the axles happier. I'm curious if the P2 spacers that people sell work on the P80, but I don't really want to spend the money to find out. Making a set of spacers would be easy enough, but I'd prefer aluminum just to know they're rock solid.

Hi, is it true as i was told that mounting spacers to front subframe only change the wheel angle and not the ride height??
