Spray a cloth with your preferred treatment then wipe the door seals, no over spray. I put the four snow tires on my '94 850 because it has over 300,000 miles and keep the newer ones parked.

It would be a shame to drive a nice 1995 850 in salt. If it was me I would buy a cheap winter car with snow tires to use and store the Classic Volvo each winter.

In the past we had a house in South Orange, New Jersey which had a winter 4X4 Chevrolet in the garage. 4X4 was needed to get up the hill to get home in the ice. We used to have a oily under coating sprayed all over the undercarriage and in spring he would pressure wash the undercarriage to get as much of the salt off. Our good cars stayed off the road and in the garage protected.

Worse than the salt is idiot drivers slamming into your car whether parked or during a drive. A insurance company would total a 95 850 quickly if it was to get hit. Something to think about! June

I haven’t ruled out storing it. I’d have to pay for it.

Maybe I’ll cover it up for winter, if I can’t get storage.

I found a car cover that is a giant ziplock bag that would work if the car is outside during the winter

having matching tires all the way around. IMHO, it’s
Hands Down the safest way to run with winter tires.

I have studded Nokian Hakkapelitta’s on all four corners
and am really happy with them, but there are plenty of
great options out there. Bridgestone Blizzaks are very
popular here in Fairbanks, but in the last ten years or
so, we’ve been getting a LOT more freezing rain than
we used to, and the the temps drop and we have plate
ice all winter... The studded Hakkas and Blizzaks are both
excellent snow and ice tires. Conditions in your new home
will certainly vary and your idea of getting the lay of the
land and input from the locals sounds like a good play.

I agree, I’d only put 4 snow tires on, not 2. Tires should match.

Thanks for tire suggestions, not a clue what to get.

I checked my windshield washer fluid and it’s rated at +32F, never freezes where we used to live.

Curious, my windshield fluid reservoir is fairly full.

Can I add alcohol perhaps, to prevent freezing? Didn’t want to waste all the fluid. Also not sure of best way to remove the fluid other than running the wipers.

Just let the system continue to spray until out, then refill with winter fluid. Then run again until winter fluid sprays to flush lines. just did it a few days ago in my S80. June

Add concentrate to get it to a decent freezing point quicker without having to empty it.

Just pop a hose off a fitting - the pump will empty the reservoir without the nozzle very quickly.

When I use a gallon of squirt juice in a day, I know I have lost a headlight washer hose.
