Alternator Pulley Fell Off

There is no holding bolt for the pulley...my mistake earlier for suggesting that as I was trying to go from memory from a few years ago.
The pulley has splines and threads. You thread it on the alternator shaft, then have to use the special two piece tool to tighten it. the 1st pc of the tool holds the pulley, and a 2nd pc of the tool goes thru the 1st so you can turn the alternator shaft (or visa versa..one tool holds, the other tightens or loosens).

I looked at the IPD pulley tool and the picture only shows the 1st part for around $7. The tool I purchased wasn't from IPD, was over $30, and was both parts. I don't know if they are just missing the pic of the 2nd part of the tool, or whether they feel most mechanics might have a similar tool so it's not included, hence the lower cost.

You will need a special tool to remove the pulley...Metalnerd.com had it for $29.00 (PN MN3400)."

I wouldn't be too worried if the spin direction is tight, as long as the pulley is a high quality name (ie. manufactured in Germany or Europe).

The spline thread is the opposite thread from the driving direction, which is a LH thread on my late P80 1999 (first year to use free wheel pulley)

Get the thread direction right before ruining the spline head!
