staying there, too.

I really miss the richer, more saturated color pallette.
The shallow, washed out look that has been “trending”
in a lot of display tech recently is a lot more flash than
substance, the way I see it. Kinda like painting over a
nice wood finish with white to “ really open up the room”.

Loading times are hot! Keep the cool infrastructure
upgrades, but bring us back Legacy MVS visually.
Agreed. Speed is awesome. And I realise that is probably in part thanks to the more modern code used for the pages.

This is way OT but the picture below is by far the best forum I'm a member of when it comes to being easy on the eyes and easy to read. It took a few weeks of testing from a few of us users for them to come up it though.

Redundant information. When you look down the list of topics, last post is listed twice. The OP is no longer listed.

I've made a small slew of changes this morning
  • background color on alternating rows is now a darker blue
  • darkened body font color from dark grey to one hex step from black (so, essentially black)
  • decreased row height on all pages that have rows of any kind
  • I put back the H2 topic titles in each post in View Topic pages
  • increased hamburger size substantially, and gave it some right padding [June]
  • adjusted attachments' "Attachment" word position
  • increased max concatenated width of navigation breadcrumbs
  • fixed some general bugs
The speed gains we saw starting last night will be temporarily paused while I work on these adjustments today. No cache = slower.

More changes coming today. These are just the first things I found.

Remember to Hard Refresh or you won't see these changes.

Thanks for your help and feedback, everybody.

The right man for the job I'd say. If I were managing the forum it'd probably start looking too flashy/high contrast that would make everybody's eyes hurt to look at.

So far I really like how it looks on a pc :)

I'm not really used to have the "user card" on the right, but other than that it's all good

While I agree that "I move that Matt is The MAN",
I don't know if it's better or not. I guess I'll get used to it with time.

Bear with me, I'm an old guy and don't have a lot of patience with computers and change in general.
I'm not tech savvy and wouldn't know what is worse or better. Most times I have no idea what "tech" people are talking about.
For instance, I have no idea what the poster above me is referring to when he says "user card on the right".

Regardless, I doubt my opinion makes any difference anyway.

Edit after re-reading the above posts:

background color on alternating rows is now a darker blue - I don't see any difference, but maybe I just never noticed it before
darkened body font color from dark grey to one hex step from black (so, essentially black) - Huh?
decreased row height on all pages that have rows of any kind - No idea what this means
I put back the H2 topic titles in each post in View Topic pages - No idea what this means
increased hamburger size substantially, and gave it some right padding [June] - What the heck is hamburger and padding?
adjusted attachments' "Attachment" word position - haven't noticed yet
increased max concatenated width of navigation breadcrumbs - No idea what this means
fixed some general bugs

I'm not trying to be a ball-buster. Just saying that as an old guy, I have no idea what a lot of this lingo means.

Edit #2:
I think it's kind of cool that this is my 544th post. Very serendipitous!

Matt the smartphone new background is awful!!!! Even with the phones brightness at 25% it gives me a headache after a few minutes. Please consider bringing the blue back. The way it is now is not a improvement. June

Matthew,

It seems that the box for "Topic" in the classifieds is unavailable. I can add body, but when I go to submit the listing, it say that a topic is required, but there is no where to enter a topic.

Thanks for the report, Patrick.

I found the same thing on my phone's Chrome browser, which had yesterday's cache in it.
