Im guessing that the tank is HDPE with some kind of liner for the fuel container. That plastic liner means it can't be recycled as HDPE so it get the 7-OTHER

FOr purposes of welding, I would try an HDPE weld - I bet that works outside.

God, this guy is good.

Just got off the phone with a friend at Dupont. SELAR is a Dupont Nylon, designed to be mixed with HDPE product, and was used in fuel tanks for Volvo, Kia, Saab, Mitsubishi, Toyota.

Final Answer - its an HDPE tank, with a Nylon additive for compatability with ethanol fuels.

So, is this telling me it's a variation of HDPE, and why not classify it as #2 then? SS usually refers to stainless...that could be coincidence.
