For breaking loose the lug bolts that require an impact wrench capable of 1050 ft lbs you better get a long stick and hit a person with it who touched the lug bolts the last time, since the required torque is only about 100 ft lbs.

It takes over 100 ft. lbs to over come the inertia.

Sure, the bolts do freeze, but I never had a trouble of removing the bolt once it was properly torqued.

Me neither. I got the I got the 1050 ft. lbs to remove Axel nuts. I don't use it for much else. A 18" breaker bar usually does the job on everything else.

I use a metre long breaker bar and a socket for the whole job. Break loose then straighten at the pivot and just spin the bar between my fingers to get the bolts loose. Same procedure to put them back except I use a torque wrench to tighten them to 110 Nm which is about what's recommended IIRC. It's very easy to over tighten using power tools since this really isn't a very high torque.

The breaker bar is always kept in the car for roadside use. It's much easier to stow than the silly original tool since it's straight. It fits down in the rear in behind the battery and tyre.

We use the Volvo lug nut wrench, and use our piece of pipe that we keep up front to extend the torque range.

The pipe is to bash in the heads of car jackers and take away their guns.
