I inspected the valve body and I find it the one with the B5 spring, when removed, the car has changed and getting better day after day. Now the car is drivable especially when it's cold, still ther some small bangs and harsh slam when reverse (when hot it increases). Some times when cold I hear gear loud noise when doing D ouR (is it related to oil level)
Do you think rebuilding VB with sonnax zip kit and transtec gasket is enough?

Old post, but, wow.....
someone put in a valve body with a spring in it?
Did any Volvos ever come with that sping installed?
I thought the spring was ONLY GM and NIssan/Volvo didn't get them,

Anyway, from what I saw quickly reading this saga:
Trans got the wrong oil at some point, and
it got a VB with a spring in it (I am pretty sure they don't get the spring).

Did it end happily never after?

Is removal of said spring recommended or discouraged?
